Mainstream Canada alleges that Don has damaged its brand by comparing the open pen salmon aquaculture industry to tobacco companies. As fishermen and lodge owners we fully appreciate the hard work countless individuals have put into conserving wild Pacific salmon; Don Staniford is one of those heroes. Together with 20,000 others we believe wild salmon migration corridors for Canadian, Alaskan and Lower 48 salmon are no place for farmed salmon feedlots; they place wild populations of salmon and wild places at undue risk to parasites, viruses, pollution and escaped salmon. It is particularly senseless to harvest our oceans so we can feed fish fish to make less fish. Yup that part sounds as silly as it is. It is time for all fishermen to stand up for wild salmon while we can.
